Look at me Pa....I Drive Trucks!

My Dad (or Pa rather) gave Maddox this Caterpillar little truck for Christmas. Maddox is my dads first grandson and if you know my Dad he loves trucks, tractors, cars, anything that makes lots of noise and is manly! This Caterpillar dump truck makes all kinds of diesel truck noises, it honks and makes noises like it is dumping what is in the back of it. Maddox Loves the noises it makes and is finally to the point where he can balance himself sitting on it for a little while if you set him up on it. I cant wait till Maddox and his Pa are actually riding real tractors together out at my parents house. For now...this will do!

Another Maddox Milestone

My sweet little six and a half month old hit another important milestone this weekend. He can now sit up unassisted for a pretty lengthy period of time. According to a lot of people I've talked to he was a little behind in finally being able to do this. I think he did it at the most perfect time. When he was ready and when he believed that he could. He must think he has a CRAZY momma because I cant stop telling him how proud of him I am and I of course cant stop taking his picture. He will sit there for about ten minutes at a time and play with his toys. Many of these are new and exciting for him because he was not able to play with them laying down or in a chair. I am so proud of my little man. We (mostly my sister who watches him while i work...and I have been doing a lot of that lately) have really been working with him trying to help him learn that he can sit up on his own....he got it. I think he just finally made up his mind that he could! He is hitting these amazing and fun mile stones in his own time. In the time that God has planned for him.
This was the moment where he realized....Yeah I think I can do this! I unfortunately missed him do it for the first minute but Nat snapped a pic. And once he realized he could.....He just DID!

Hey Mom...could you get the camera out of my face I'm trying to keep my balance here!

Look at all this stuff!
So much FUN!
I am so proud of you baby boy!

Cousin Weekend

Greg was out of town this weekend. One of his great friends got married in Toronto this weekend. This is the third January in a row that he has attended a wedding in Toronto. I have been to the last two. Although I dearly love the family and friends whose weddings we have attended it is uncomfortably cold there right now and so I was happy to stay behind with Maddox this time and let Greg go and have a guys getaway in freezing cold Toronto. I have not talked to him much so I'm sure he is having a blast! Congrats to Duaine and Amanda! Maddox and I went to my sisters house on Friday night and spent the weekend with her, Justin and the girls. It was so much fun. We just played with our kiddos all weekend, cooked out on Saturday night and stayed up way to late talking on Saturday night. All in all it was a fun weekend. I love that Maddox has cousins that are his age that he gets to grow up with. I love being with my sister and her family. I am truly blessed.

I love this pic of the three little ones eating together.

Madeleine is such a big girl. She loves to hold Maddox and play with him. Shes gonna make her Aunt CeeCee a great babysitter one of these days!

Emma and Maddox rolling around!

Lizzie calls Maddox Her Baby. She is probably the one who takes the most care of Maddox. She always makes sure that he has all of his favorite toys.

Maddox and Uncle J! Uncle J (or big Tex as he is commonly known) is rarely seen without his cowboy hat. He was happier than anyone I think that Maddox likes his hat so much!

Maddox started out in the bath first and then just about the time he was done and ready to get out here came the girls. We had to get them all in together to play for a bit and it lasted all of about 2 minutes before it was almost a disaster. We did manage to snap a pic of them! There gonna hate this one in ten years!

Sunday Morning Snuggles

We spent Sunday Morning in our PJ's playing with Maddox in our bed. It was by far my favorite part of my weekend!

Cutest Lil Cowboy in Cowtown!

Maddox got invited to his first Birthday Party this weekend. His friend Max Zavala turned one and had a big bash at Joe T. Garcias. It was a Cowboy theme and Maddox definitely dressed the part. He was truly the cutest little cowboy in cowtown.

Maddox had the cutest or should I say manly John Deer Boots!

Maddox was so awe struck by all the other kids running around!

This is Maddox and his Friend Max along with Jennifer "Max's Aunt) and her Mom!

Cowboy Up!
Along with pony rides, charicatures (sp?) and face painting Maddox was most mesmerized with Big Jake! Here is our little guy smiling by the big longhorn
(Real Longhorns are fine son but your still a Red Raider at heart)!

6 Months of Wonderful!

Happy 2010 Everyone! We rang in the New Year with some friends on NYE and had a great time. However, our biggest celebration of the new year came on January 2nd as we celebrated Maddox reaching the 6 month mark. The past 6 months have brought so much joy to our lives. Everyday it seems like there is something new and exciting we get to see our little man do. He is busy always....jumping, bouncing and trying to get into anything he can. He loves being in his bouncer that hangs in the doorway and he loves playing in his excersaucer...anything to be on his feet. He loves playing with my hair while he has his bottle. I cherish moments like this. He lights up when his dad walks in the room. My Dad got Maddox a remote control car (not really something a 6 month old can use but totally something my Dad would get his first grandson). Greg and Maddox play with it everyday. Actually here is how it goes...Greg plays with the remote control Corvette and Maddox sits in his excersaucer or jumper and follows it with his eyes. It is really precious. I really don't know who is having more fun to be honest...Greg or Maddox.
Maddox got a great report from Dr. Murphy at his 6 month check up. He tipped the scale at 18lbs6oz and was 27 1/4 inches long. Both of these in the 75 percentile. Dr. Murphy assured us that he is looking good and progressing as he should!
We look forward to watching Maddox learn new things, grow and hit more milestones during the next 6 months. Its hard to believe we have a six month old!

Here are some of our most recent favorite moments and pics...

Maddox has been eating cereal but started veggies this week. We had to show you what his reaction was eating veggies for the first time. Priceless!

Merry First Christmas Baby Boy!

Maddox woke up right on time Christmas morning! We were afraid he may surprise us with a break in his normal routine because of the travels on Christmas eve but he adjusted perfectly!Maddox opened his very first Christmas gift.

The cutest sweater from Janie and Jack from Aunt Kris and Uncle Dwaine! We loved how he was far more interested in the wrapping paper that anything that was inside the box. He loves the sound the paper makes.

I have really wanted Maddox to have his own little sitting chair with his name on it. Aunt Anna and Uncle Travis got him the exact one I had in mind without even knowing it!I love how he is just relaxing in his chair with all of his gifts and the wrapping paper surrounding him. He was really worn out from all of the excitement.

This was the perfect first Christmas as a family of three! Thanks to everyone for all the sweet gifts and thanks to Maddox for allowing us to enjoy Christmas in a very new and special way.

Some fun pics from our Saint Charles trip!

OK well we learned that it is time for us to get another dog soon. Maddox played so well with Otis (Travis and Anna's pug). He always wanted to know where his four legged friend was!

Mason (Lincoln and Jessica's 2 year old) showed Maddox the ropes!

Anthony (Greg's Dad) kept telling Mason that it was his job to show Maddox the ropes. He kept saying that over and over again....show him the ropes, show him the ropes, show him the ropes.

All the sudden Mason looks at everyone and says "I DONT HAVE ANY ROPES"

I love his innocence. It is so precious.

Maddox had a great time watching Mason play and run around. It wont be long before Maddox is running right behind him!

Madison (Mike & Keisha's daughter) is going to be the best babysitter ever in a few years. She made Maddox smile every time she was around. She is such a sweet spirit

Maddox laughed in snow for the first time. It was so cold that we didn't get out much. Although he looks really uncomfortable in this picture he really seemed to enjoy the cool air on his face.

Maddox was mesmerized by Uncle Travis. When Travis or Papa Nurse walked into the room Maddox was just in Awe. He couldn't keep his eyes off of them.

Our friends Jeff and Rachael who are expecting twins very soon have a sweet 5 year old, Presley. She is such a precious girl. Jeff and Presley came by to meet Maddox and I had to catch a pic of the two of them!

OK so I know you see that Maddox is in a bathroom doorway but here's the deal....

Maddox loves his bouncer and it was easy to pack so we brought it to MO with us. Greg's parents house has a more open feel to it with clean doorways/entryways into each room and they don't have doors between the rooms so there is no molding to hang the bouncer.

The only place on the main level that has a door is the bathroom so that is where he had to bounce. He was facing the living room and kitchen at least but all of the pics of him have a toilet int eh background...kinda funny!

In the snow with Daddy in front of Meme and Papa Nurses house!

Lovin on Papa Nurse.

Maddox loved the ornaments that his grandma had hanging from the chandelier in her dining room. All he really wanted to do was pull them off but it was great entertainment for him everyday!

My My sister-in-laws are the best! I'm so blessed to have such amazing women in my life!

A Trip To Saint Charles, MO for Christmas

Maddox put on his warm and fuzzy hat and get ready to head to the Midwest to spend Christmas with his Meme and Papa Nurse! All smiles on the way to the airport to catch a flight to MO. Mommy and Daddy are really hoping that he is all smiles on the plane on the way there!

Well as you can see by his watery eyes he was not really all smiles. We ended up sitting on the runway for two hours before take off after an hour delay at DFW. Needless to say, all the planning we did to make sure we booked a flight around nap time was down the drain. One of the sweet flight attendants came over after seeing the helplessness on our faces and said "Sometimes babies like the things that don't cost a penny. How about you try this!"

She handed us a small plastic cup and it was a life saver! He played with this silly plastic cup for half of the flight and gave himself, Greg and I as well as all the passengers a break.

We sat in a section where we could see about 5 or 6 other kids....

Maddox was the loudest...

and certainly the Cutest!

And then there were these brief moments where he slept sweetly on me. I cherished every moment because I don't get these at home that often anymore. Our boy loves to be in his bed when its time to sleep!

Our first flight with Maddox was quite an experience.

It was fun, stressful and quite memorable.

The movie theatre of memories in my mind bookmark all of these precious FIRSTS that we share with our boy! I love my life.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree.....

We ventured out on a cold evening and got our first family Christmas tree. I looked for the most scraggly one. I love the Charlie Brown trees. Didn't really get the one I wanted once I saw it in the light at home but once we decorated, it was perfect!

Maddox wasn't so sure about the guys putting the tree on the top of the car. He was more ready to go home and eat than anything else.

The smell of the tree was so festive however was not so great for our allergies.

Not sure what we will do next year. We may try again but with a different kind of tree!

Maddox loved the tree. He was so fascinated by it every time he walked by it. It was a new and fun experience for it every time...even when it was 10 times a day. I love his special Christmas PJ's that his Aunt Jessie got him. Santa on a horse...True Texas Christmas PJ's!

Early December 2009

Maddox is really into drooling these days! I love him in his Texas Tech gear. He has heard more talk about Texas Tech football in the past few weeks that I am wondering if Mike Leach will be the first words out of his mouth.

Every night after Maddox goes to bed Greg and I enjoy spending time together. We often find ourselves watching Maddox sleep on the video monitor. Maddox however has learned that there is a bright green light on the camera part of the monitor that is on his bed so when he is awake he stares into it and smiles. I know he doesn't know that we are watching him but it humors us every time!

Happy Boy!

Maddox is a much better eater since this pic.

He now likes to have more food in his mouth than on his mouth!

Maddox would stay in his bouncer 24 hours a day if we let him. He LOVES to be on his feet and loves to bounce! He has gotten really good at it actually and jumps pretty high!

Maddox is a beautiful girl sandwich. We had a special visit from Aunt Aweesha in December (more pics to come) and so a few girlfriends came over for a dinner and wine night. Maddox got a little love from the ladies before bedtime. I LOVE this pic because Betsy and Alicia are such special friends.

Bath time has turned out to be something we look forward to every night rather than feeling like it is such a chore. Maddox loves the bath and as I write this post I sit thinking about how this picture is over a month old and now he hardly fits in the sink comfortably anymore.

Those intense Big Brown eyes make my day... everyday.

I love my life!
